Allie Kat Reveals The Origin Of Her Character

Anthony Suter of the Smark to Death podcast recently spoke to independent wrestler Allie Kat about what made her stick around professional wrestling after declaring a hiatus, the GCW match that helped change her mind, intergender wrestling, and the origin of the Allie Kat character. You can check out the full podcast at this link or above.

She discussed her thoughts on intergender wrestling and its importance:

?I love intergender wrestling because I feel like both people learn so much more. It?s like when you only train at the same school, you only learn that. Then if you travel and go to someone else?s school you are like ?oh wow they roll differently here, they run the ropes differently here? and then you take something new. I think that?s how intergender wrestling works because the boys and girls learn something knew. I think you learn a lot. I think the believability argument is crap because Rey Mysterio exists. I think it?s fun. I feel like when a girl and guy interact there is so much more there. We can throw the macho bs away. It doesn?t have to always be like ?we?re fighting for honor.? It can be like ?oh, we?re wrestling.? I live for moments in wrestling and I think intergender wrestling presents so much more because there are so many more unexpected possibilities. Like if a girl picks up the heavy guy or does something devastating it?s so much cooler than when a regular guy does it.?

The origin of the Allie Kat character

?So, it?s really a simple story. So, I trained in Austin with George De La Isla and he?s very old school. He comes form the 70?s, 80?s, that time. He would say ?you guys just wanna put on kickpads and be wrestlers. Well, you gotta have a gimmick.? So, everybody at the school at a gimmick. We had a cowboy, we had an irish guy, things like that. So, when we had girls in the school it was like ?oh, what are we gonna make the girls.? And then he comes up to me and goes ?Allie, I got an idea. Tell me what you think about this. Tell me what you think about Allie Kat.? And he?s my trainer, I?m not gonna tell him no, I?m gonna do what my trainer tells me and literally that was it. I?m gonna make due with what George gave me. I was like, I?m gonna literally be a cat then. The next week he came up to me and then said ?alright, maybe if you don?t like Allie Kat tell me what you think about this? Allie Kazaam.? And I was like, ?I think I?m gonna stick with Allie Kat, George.??
