Alundra Blayze On Her WWE Raw XXX Appearance: It Was An Honor To Be Called

Alundra Blayze (also known as Madusa) reflects on her experience at WWE Raw XXX.

Blayze arrived in WWE in 1993 after she rose to prominence with the AWA, All Japan Women's Pro Wrestling, and WCW. She won the WWF Women's Championship before she left the company in 1995. Blayze memorably jumped to WCW and threw the WWF Women's Championship in the trash. During her time in WCW, she won the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. Blayze was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015. She has made multiple appearances for WWE, and she briefly popped up on WWE Raw XXX on January 23.

Speaking with Just Alyx, Blayze discussed her experience on the show and stated that it was an honor to be called. She recalled how the company called her in advance before they changed the plan due to a schedule change. Blayze then stated that WWE reached out two nights before Raw and asked her again to be on the show.

"It was an honor to be called. They did call me a month or two before that and asked me to go. Then like three weeks before they said, 'Oh, schedule change.' I'm used to that because they always did that. They change it a month ahead, three weeks, two nights before, and the night of the show. They always change the card. So you can't take it personally. Then they called me two nights before and said, 'Blayze, can you still come?' I'm like, what? Oh my gosh, let me see. So you don't know going in and you kind of negotiate beforehand on what are we doing. They told me they were just gonna have me play poker. I'm like, 'I don't know how to play poker.' They were like, 'Blayze, it's scripted.' I'm like, 'Oh, that's right," Blayze said with a laugh.

The Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie Bella) took to Twitter after WWE Raw XXX to criticize the fact that Madusa was the only women's legend who appeared on the show. Likewise, fans expressed their frustration after an advertised Steel Cage Match between Becky Lynch and Bayley was turned into a beatdown angle because the bout had to be cut for time. Blayze was asked about her reaction to The Bellas' comments, and she admitted that she thought they would praise the way she appeared on the show. She also noted that she wondered why they didn't criticize the way she was used on Raw.

"My thought when I did see a little bit of that was like, 'What is all of this?' Then I started thinking, well, I was the only woman legend there. That was an honor. I thought maybe they'd be praising that at least. You know, having one of their older peers there. But I didn't see any of that. If they were so upset, why wouldn't they say? 'Why did Blayze not have anything better for her than just a poker game?' So it goes both ways. I guess to have one there is great. But then again, it could have been more than a poker game," Blayze said.
