Amazing Red Recalls The Origin Of The Canadian Destroyer

Amazing Red looks back on the creation of the Canadian Destroyer.

Red's high-flying offense changed the game in the 2000s. Since then, many wrestlers have borrowed from the former TNA star's arsenal. Among other maneuvers, the Canadian Destroyer has become a commonplace move.

Red recently participated in ‘Ask Me Anything’ that was hosted by ‘SquaredCircle’ on Reddit. In one highlight, he was asked whether he invented or co-invented it. He responded by stating that the move initially happened on accident.

"Yes, it was a mistake move with Joel Maximo (because I wanted to do everything into a flip .. flipping powerbomb, flipping piledriver, flipping DDT) Then later on Quiet Storm perfected it with me. He did it in the ROH shows with me (that's where Chris Sabin saw it and gave it to Petey Williams) Petey made it cool tho for sure," Red said.

Red, the Maximos, Brian XL, and Divine Storm had some classic matches in the early 2000s, and they were featured in the early years of ROH. When asked about these contests, Red stated that they were fun, though they were also taxing.

"If I were to describe the matches in one word, it would be fun. Very taxing on our bodies but very fun. Every one of them," he said.

WWE Hall of Famer Edge recently did a Canadian Destroyer during his match against Damian Priest on the August 22 edition of WWE Raw. Clearly, Red's influence is still prominent to this day.
