Angelina Love Says She Was Released By WWE Five Days Before She Was Slated To Go To A TV Taping

It was a rough stretch for Love.

Prior to becoming a six-time TNA Women's Knockout Champion, a TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion and a member of 'The Beautiful People', Angelina Love signed a developmental contract with WWE and was set to report to the company's then-developmental system Deep South Wrestling. Love was a part of Deep South for three years and she was just five days away from heading to a TV taping. Unfortunately for her she was released by the sports-entertainment company after just getting settled in her new apartment and she detailed the rest of the story while being interviewed by Hannibal TV at the Rhode Island Comic Con.

“Yeah I’ve known Nova since I was nineteen - Williams, he calls me Williams." Love speaking of Simon Dean. "I don’t know if he said that to you but he always calls me Williams. I had been in Deep South - I was the only girl in Deep South from like the day the doors opened until the day the door shut, and then I went to Louisville and I did one training class, one show, one pay-per-view and I got released that night and I thought he was joking because there was one point in Deep South I was actually being brought up to TV for something and he called me like he was firing me and it was this big joke and whatever. So when he did it this time I was like, ‘Haha’, and he was like, ‘No’. It took him all day; he called me at 7, 7 or 7:30 PM but he knew at 9 AM that day that I was getting released and it took him - because he’s known me since I was a kid, so it took him all day to do that and I was like, ‘You’re kidding right? I’m supposed to go to TV on Tuesday’. This was like Thursday night. The following Tuesday I was supposed to go TV. I thought he was joking and he was like, ‘Listen to the tone of my voice. Do I sound like I’m joking?’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God’ and I was only in Louisville for a week." She revealed. "So my parents had actually driven from Toronto - eleven hours down to Louisville to help me get everything set up because as soon as I got there I had to go work. So they pretty much got my entire apartment set up for me like laundry, I got cable set up, food in the fridge and everything. My room put together, my living room put together. We had to give everything back because I only had stuff for two days and I just lost money on delivery fees and a deposit on an apartment and when Nova had called me, my parents had called my thirty minutes prior to say that they just crossed the border back into Canada. They had driven like eight hours, and I was like, ‘I just got fired’, and my mom was like, ‘What!?’ And she was like, ‘Do you wanna come home?’ And I said, ‘Get me out of here’. My parents stopped on a dime, turned around, crossed the border again, and drove eight hours back to Louisville and got to my place like 6 in the in the morning and we all napped for a little bit and then started the process of leaving the next day. I have rockstar parents by the way." She concluded.

Angelina Love went on to have a successful career outside of WWE and during this same interview she revealed that she suffered a concussion in a match that she was slated to win the Knockouts title in. Check out Fightful's published article on the topic for more.
