There were several big changes to WrestleMania 37 the week of the show.
Among those changes included new champions. Fightful Select reported the following after the event:
We mentioned the changes to the Fiend vs. Randy Orton match, but that wasn't the only match that had the result changed this weekend. Fightful was informed that originally Riddle was supposed to retain his WWE United States Championship at the show, but it was adjusted in favor of continuing the feud with Sheamus.
Riddle would be squashed the following night by Bobby Lashley, while Sheamus was not used on the show. Instead, Sheamus appeared on Raw Talk following the Raw after Mania.
Riddle and Sheamus' chemistry has been applauded backstage by WWE higher ups, and the tentative plan heading in to WrestleMania was to keep the feud going.
