Anthony Bowens looks back on being knocked out during an NXT match with AOP, noting it was the scariest bumps he’s taken.
Bowens was used as an enhancement talent on the December 21, 2016 (taped on November 30) episode of NXT, teaming with Jonathan Ortagun to take on The Authors Of Pain (Akam & Rezar). During the process of the match, Bowens would take a brutal spot which would leave him noticeably rocked, with the referee stepping in to protect him for the rest of the squash match.
While speaking to Adrian Hernandez in a new interview, Anthony Bowens was asked whether his bump through tables during Blood and Guts was worse than the bumps he took in his match with AOP.
“Well, the tables, because I was conscious. I didn’t get knocked out going through the tables. That was pretty… Pretty bad. The AOP thing was just like, I remember taking the powerbomb, and then I remember the guy coming down, and then it was just lights out. I was completely unconscious. I had that little seizure, and then I woke up in their finish. Yes, and then I blacked out again on the floor and woke up to the doctors around me. So I wouldn’t call that painful. I would say that was definitely the scariest.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Bowens spoke about the New Day potentially joining AEW. You can read more about that here.
