At TNA Slammiversary, moments after Leon Slater would defeat Moose for the X-Division championship, AJ Styles would make his return to TNA with his ‘Get Ready To Fly’ theme music, appearing in the promotion in the ring for the first time in years. For one TNA talent, it was a significant event for several reasons.
While speaking on the latest episode of That’s Wrestling, Ash was asked about AJ Styles’ recent return to TNA at Slammiversary, as Ash noted that she always looked up to Styles when they were both in WWE.
“It’s crazy that fans kind of, like, can depict little things on, packages or things leading up to, like, an event or just somebody saying one word phenomenal in, like, a tweet or something. Fans really are witty and they catch on to things. I call him Alan, but AJ was somebody I always looked up to in WWE. If I had any questions, psychology questions about a match, If I couldn’t execute a move that I wanted to try, he was always there to help me. He was such a great person behind the scenes too, backstage, family man. Then having this partnership, no other person stands out like AJ Styles over with TNA because he was TNA. He literally was awesome in TNA and then going back to WWE, he made his way to the top. Look, he was the cover of a video game. So I felt like that just solidified what TNA is now. It’s like we have the best of the best. We are the best of the best. There’s no number two. We are equal with WWE. We are partnered up with the best company or was the best company in the world. Now we are one. We are equal. So it also… allows the fans to tune into TNA every single week, every single pay-per-view and be like, ‘wow, what’s next?’ And they listen to every single little word. They look at every little package, and it is amazing because I remember I had to rewatch the package like four times. ‘I’m like, is this really happening? Like, is this happening at Slam?’ and the place erupted. It was awesome. It was awesome. And he said, too, he’s like, feels like home.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Ash shared that she considered retirement after her WWE release. You can read more about that here.
