Asuka Breaks Another WWE Title Record, Gets Congrats From Goldberg

Asuka's long reign as NXT Women's Champion has broken yet another record.

In terms of the modern era of WWE's history, Asuka's reign as NXT Women's Champion is the longest title reign in the company's history. On August 17, she broke Rockin' Robin's 502-day long reign as the WWF Women's Champion, to become the longest-reigning WWE Champion in the modern era and the longest reigning Women's Champion in the company's history, according to PWInsider.com.

With this new record, only four wrestlers have had longer reigns in WWE's history: Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, Pedro Morales and Hulk Hogan.

Goldberg, who is no stranger to having historically long win streaks in wrestling, Tweeted at Asuka congratulating her on her ludicrously long win streak.

Asuka joined WWE in 2015, debuting in NXT in September of that year. She won the NXT Women's Championship several months later when she beat Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Dallas. Earlier this year, Asuka became the longest reigning NXT Champion, either male or female, in NXT history.

The win streak will be on the line at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III when she defends her title against Ember Moon. Fightful will full coverage of the event, as well as SummerSlam weekend.
