Asuka won't be competing on Monday's episode of WWE Raw due to a sprained wrist. Kairi Sane will take her place in the match against Shayna Baszler.
WWE confirmed the news on its website on Monday evening.
Due to a sprained wrist, WWE Women?s Tag Team Champion Asuka is not medically cleared to compete tonight on Monday Night Raw.
Facing Shayna Baszler in The Empress of Tomorrow's place will be her tag team partner, Kairi Sane.
It is unclear when Asuka suffered the injury. She did compete at live events over the weekend. Her status for Sunday's WWE Elimination Chamber is also unclear. Asuka is scheduled to compete in the Raw Women's Elimination Chamber against Baszler, Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott, Natalya, and Sarah Logan. The winner of the bout will challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Title at WrestleMania 36.
