Atsushi Onita got some unexpected inspiration from Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa during their Lights Out match in March.
Onita launched his FMW-E promotion in July, which is a reboot of Frontier Martial Arts with the E standing from "Explosion." The promotion offers variety, including exploding deathmatch, and Onita wants to get women involved after seeing what Baker and Rosa accomplished on AEW Dynamite.
"I saw Britt Baker’s match at AEW a while back. It was bloody and gutsy, and it was cool. When I entered CZW, there was a good hardcore woman wrestler, and a few years ago at WrestleMania, WWE also focused on women. If motivated women get together, I would like to do an explosion deathmatch for women wrestlers," Onita told Liam Wyatt of Inside The Ropes.
FMW-E ran its first show on July 4. You can find full results from the show by clicking here.
Onita isn't the only wrestling legend who offered praise for Rosa vs. Baker in recent interviews. Paul Wight said the two women "raised the bar" when it comes to women's wrestling in their Lights Out match. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
