The IMPACT Wrestling Awards sparked a new social media feud.
Sami Callihan was feeling himself on Twitter after winning IMPACT Wrestling Match of the Year (vs. Pentagon Jr at Slammiversary), Moment of the Year (hitting Eddie Edwards in the face with a bat) and Wrestler of the Year. Callihan would go on to say that he is a Future IMPACT World Champion.
2018 was the most successful year of #TheDRAW’s career.

Wait until you see what I have planned for 2019.#WrestlerOfTheYear#MatchOfTheYear#MomentOfTheYear#FutureImpactWorldChampion pic.twitter.com/CpZFqGie0S
Former IMPACT World Champion Austin Aries took notice of Callihan's brags and decided to take fans behind the curtain, calling out the OVE leader for his selfish style.
And #behindthecurtain you only had to:

Break a guys face due to AMATEUR execution. #MomentOfTheYear
Ignore and STEAL 10+mins of my PPV main event match time for yourself. #MatchOfTheYear
Get NOBODY over but you, at your colleagues expense.#WrestlerOfTheYear
So, about #BFG... https://t.co/YsmlBkBP2N
When you’ve been biting your tongue for so long and so hard that it’s become numb, it feel good to bring some tingle back to it. For everyone that’s been wanting to peek #behindthecurtain...remember, it might not reveal what you think.

And that led to a full-blown social media war of words between the two.
Kiss my ass Dan, and cry me a river.

Take your ball and run home when you don’t get your way. Just like you’ve done in EVERY company you’ve worked for. https://t.co/Sw9aLx8Ost
Holy shit, did you really do the “real name” tweet like a fucking mark?!
— Austin Aries (@AustinAries) February 7, 2019
And if your ball is ever worth what my ball is worth, get back to me about how, where and for who you play with it. Until then, careful what stones you throw, Solomon Crowe. https://t.co/spIic8n7SD
I’m pretty sure my “ball” has been shooting game winners for years Dan.
— The DRAW (@TheSamiCallihan) February 7, 2019
It’s not like I’m contracted to 3 major United States wrestling programs or anything. Oh wait I am.... @IMPACTWRESTLING @MLW @LuchaElRey.
Where are you and your “ball” working right now?
Nowhere. https://t.co/SaZDxFCSX0
Congrats working places I’ve turned down deals from recently. Oh, @davemeltzerWON didn’t report that?
— Austin Aries (@AustinAries) February 7, 2019
Not doing a back and forth here. I really do have better things to do. So keep being a good grunt boy for them “promoters” and I’ll Iook for you on TV. What major channel again? https://t.co/1uAx0BeLHo
Not going back and forth yet you post your 4th tweet about me in 2 days.
— The DRAW (@TheSamiCallihan) February 7, 2019
How about you keep my name out of your mouth, eat a bunch of bananas, and kiss my ass Dan. #BananaManDan https://t.co/viS8mdb59I
The “take your ball and go home” think is fascinating.
— Austin Aries (@AustinAries) February 7, 2019
I mean it is MY fucking ball, I’ve worked hard to OWN MY BALL and EARNED THE RIGHT to take it away from places and people that don’t PLAY THE RIGHT WAY. Pretty simple. If you don’t get that, you likely don’t own your balls.
It should be noted that IMPACT is teasing that a former World Champion will return to main event their Apr. 4 event in a "first-time ever" match. Aries and Callihan have only met in singles competition back at a 2009 ROH event.
Aries walked out on IMPACT Wrestling following Bound For Glory in October. His contract with the company expired following the event.
