Bad Bunny Drops Out Of Marvel's 'El Muerto'

Bad Bunny is out.

Earlier this year, Sony announced ‘El Muerto,' a Spider-Man spinoff starring Bad Bunny, was currently off its release schedule. It was slated to be released on January 12, 2024, but had not started shooting. The report stated, "the project fell victim to the ongoing writers strike; the script needed additional work as of mid-spring but services could not be done in time."

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Bunny was asked what happened.

The article said, "An awkward silence ripples across the table. 'Next question,' asserts Solá [Bunny's publicist], who’s seated at an adjacent booth. 'I don’t know what to say,' Martínez replies, calling the issue 'delicate.' Solá sharpens the point. “Obviously, it’s out,” she says of the film."

Synopsis of El Muerto:

El Muerto, aka Juan-Carlos Sánchez, was a super-powered wrestler who initially fought Spider-Man in a charity wrestling match where he nearly unmasked Spider-Man before being accidentally stung by the frightened web-crawler with a paralyzing poison. After being saved from the hospital by Spider-Man, Sanchez’s oppressor, El Dorado, came to claim his life. Knowing his life was in danger, Spider-Man and Sánchez joined forces to defeat Dorado

Mercedes Mone (Mercdes Varnado) was reportedly tabbed for a role.

Bunny has found plenty of success in WWE, most recently competing at WWE Backlash, defeating Damian Priest in a street fight.
