Balls Mahoney's Cause Of Death Revealed

The cause of death for ECW legend Balls Mahoney has been revealed

The Asbury Park Press is reporting that the former ECW and WWE star Jon Rechner, better known as Balls Mahoney passed away due to natural causes. Rechnes passed away on April 12 at his home due to hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, a heart attack.Mahoney was only 44 years ol.

Mahoney competed for both ECW and WWE in addition to short stints in TNA as well. During his ECW run, he was known for delivering and receiving vicious chair shots. Perhaps one of his most memorable matches was an ECW TV Title match against Rob Van Dam at ECW Anarchy Rulz 1999. 

Mahoney was survived by his mother Suzanne, girlfriend Gayle and son Christopher.

On Matthew Rechner, 44 of Spring Lake Heights passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. 

Jon was born in Long Branch and had been a lifelong resident of Spring Lake Heights. He was a graduate of Manasquan High School and was a member of the wrestling team and a star player on the Warriors Football team. He was an avid fan of the NY Giants. 

Jon went on to become a Professional Wrestler, performing under the name of Balls Mahoney.

He is survived by his beloved mother Suzanne Koenig Rechner of Spring Lake Heights, his devoted companion of 13 years Gayle Schechter and their son Christopher Rechner of Spring Lake Heights who was Jon's pride and joy, Gayle's parents Ronald ("Pops") and Ellen Schechter of East Brunswick and their son Brian Schechter who had a special relationship with Jon, and Jon's Uncle and Aunt Jay and Linda Koenig of Lewes, Del., many close personal and professional friends and fans throughout the country. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 2:00pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 6:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ 07719. Private committal will follow at the convenience of the family. 

In lieu of flowers Jon's family specifically requests donations be made to either the Spring Lake First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 94, Spring Lake, NJ 07762 or the St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38101-9908. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Saturday.
