Bayley: In The Moment, John Cena’s Heel Turn Was Good. Bigger Picture, Who Knows If It Was Needed
The wrestling world was shocked at WWE Elimination Chamber 2025 when John Cena turned heel on Cody Rhodes, aligning himself with The Rock and Travis Scott.
Cena would remain heel through WWE SummerSlam, where he reverted back to babyface to wrap up his rivalry with Rhodes.
Fans had mixed feelings on Cena’s turn and the follow up, with many believing it was ultimately wasted given how long it lasted and how the rest of the year played out following the turn.
Speaking to Evan Cohen, Chris Canty and Michelle Smallmon on Unsportsmanlike, Bayley was asked about her thoughts on the heel turn.
“In the moment, good. When you look at the bigger picture, who knows if it was needed, but I was very excited when it happened,” she said.
John Cena wrestled his last match on December 13, tapping out to Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Elsewhere during the interview, Bayley named who she thinks is the greatest female wrestler of all time. You can find her answer here.
