Bayley is not only the current SmackDown Women's Champion but one of the pioneers of the NXT women's division that grew and evolved into WWE's Women's Evolution. Today, the NXT women's division continues to house a wide variety of athletes who continue to capitalize on groundbreaking opportunities and grow the division that was started by the hard work of people like Sasha Banks and Bayley.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Bayley commented on the current state of the NXT women’s division, naming several of its current stars as Superstars that impress her.
“There’s so many. To be honest, lately, I’ve been a little annoyed with them after their shenanigans at Survivor Series and it makes me sick how comfortable they were – but I’m bigger than that,” Bayley began. “I’m going to look past that and forward. Rhea Ripley, obviously. Teegan Knox. Dakota Kai. Candice LeRae. Bianca Belair is just outstanding. I’m very interested in Chelsea Green, to see where she goes. She’s got a new manager and a different outlook.”
Continuing on, Bayley would give high praise to Io Shirai. specifically, she would say that if her best friend, Sasha Banks, is the best of all time, Io is not that far behind.
“You know when I said Sasha was the greatest? [laughs]. She is, but a close second is Io Shirai. When I think about how I look wrestling, it’s like that. Then when I see myself it’s like [shakes her head], I ain’t even… she’s amazing. But, I’m the champion, so suck it, Io,” she boasted.
At the 2020 Royal Rumble, Bayley defeated Lacey Evans and appears to be on the fast track to defend her championship in Tampa, Florida at WrestleMania 36. Bayley and her best friend, Sasha Banks, can be seen every Friday on SmackDown on the Fox network.
