Bayley Wants A WWE Queen Of The Ring Tournament

Bring Queen of the Ring to WWE.

The 2019 King of the Ring tournament kicked off last night with Samoa Joe and Cedric Alexander punching their tickets to the second round. The tournament will continue tonight on SmackDown with Kevin Owens taking on Elias and Apollo Crews battling Andrade. The King of the Ring was an annual WWE event throughout the 90s and early 2000s, but hadn't been held since 2015 prior to this year's version.

Appearing on KSFY Morning News, SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley discussed the return of the tournament.

"When you're a fan like me who has watched for years, it was something that was taken away. It was like, 'Dang. That was one of the coolest shows.' There's so much pressure on all the guys. There's so much history to it. The fact that they brought it back is a dream come true for a lot of those guys."

With the King of the Ring returning, fans have been pushing for a Queen of the Ring tournament. Bayley is on board with the idea.

"We kinda want a Queen of the Ring. If you guys could make that happen, I would love that."

There were reports in December 2018 that WWE was considering the idea of a Queen of the Ring tournament, but the idea never came to fruition. WWE has held the Mae Young Classic, an all-women's tournament featuring top Independent talent, in each of the last two years. A 2019 Mae Young Classic has yet to be announced.
