Becky Lynch Agrees That Having A Kid While Champion Was Just As Revolutionary As Main Eventing WrestleMania

In 2020, Becky Lynch stepped away and relinquished the WWE Raw Women’s Championship, announcing her pregnancy.

Lynch had held the title for over a year after winning it in the main event of WrestleMania 35, the first woman ever to headline and win the WrestleMania main event.

Appearing on Good One with Jesse David Fox, Jesse mentioned that he thought stepping aside to be a mother and giving up the title was just as revolutionary as main eventing WrestleMania.

“I think so, too,” said Lynch. “It’s not one of those things where you get an audience cheering for you. I do think that me doing that when I was at my hottest made it so that other women can do this and it’s a thing that we won’t bat an eye at anymore. We’ve seen it happen and now you have little kids in the back and they’re playing, women are coming, and you don’t feel like it has to be either or. It’s, ‘Yes, I can have a family, and I can have a chil,d and I can figure it out.’ Obviously, the schedule now is much easier. When I first had my daughter, we were still on the road, and we were doing live events and traveling, so we were gone four days a week and bringing her everywhere. Now, you’re gone one day a week, maybe a few more. It’s a much easier schedule and allows people to have that option. I think it was hugely important that I did it, and people saw that it wasn’t a career ender.”

More recently, Naomi relinquished her title to be a mother.

Becky Lynch is set to challenge for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 42.
