Becky Lynch Calls Ric Flair "A Good Friend," Says "We'll See What Happens" Over 'The Man' Trademark

Becky Lynch talks "The Man" trademark.

Beginning with Taylor Swift releasing a song called "The Man" on her Lover album, the nickname "The Man" has been at the forefront of trademark discussion. Ric Flair, who famously coined the phrase, "To Be The Man, You Have To Beat The Man," filed a trademark on the term "The Man" on Aug. 26.

Becky Lynch has been calling herself "The Man" for over a year with WWE marketing the phrase and both parties making money off it. Ric Flair told TMZ on Sept. 5 that he trademarked the term so he could get paid when WWE uses it. He said he has no issue with Becky or her using the term, he just wants to be paid for it.

Speaking ESPN's Marc Raimondi, Becky Lynch weighed in on Flair filing for the trademark.

"All I can say about Ric is, I like Ric. He's been a good friend to me over the years. We'll see what happens with that."

Flair's trademark is still waiting for examination. The application will be assigned to an examining attorney approximately 3 months after the filing date.
