Becky Lynch Reflects On Her Journey To Becoming SmackDown Women's Champion Again

Becky spilling all the beans.

The reigning SmackDown Live Women's Champion Becky Lynch is fresh off a successful title defense against Charlotte Flair in a Last Woman Standing match at WWE 'Evolution'. Becky is locked in and moving on to her next challenger as she has removed Charlotte from the title picture for the time being. Heading into WWE 'Evolution', Becky stopped past Sirius XM to chat with the Busted Open Radio crew and among the many topics that they discussed and went over, Becky took a few minutes to detail her journey from the WWE Women's Championship Triple-Threat at WrestleMania 32 to becoming the head honcho of SmackDown's women's division.

Grayson Waller And Austin Theory Want To Bring The WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles Back To Relevance

“I had gone from on the card at WrestleMania 32 to changing the way that people perceived women’s wrestling completely - changing the title from Divas to Women’s right? I’d gone from that, to all of a sudden being in one minute matches, and losing, and then I was drafted [to] SmackDown Live and I was the first woman drafted and then I was the first SmackDown Women’s Champ, and I lost it, because I took my foot off the gas pedal, and then I sat there for nearly a whole year; maybe even longer, just wondering what I could do, how I could get back on top." She continued, "I’m doing everything right, I’m training, my matches are good. What… What is going on? What do I need to change? And eventually it was a gradual thing where it was like, ‘Okay, alright. We’ve gone through a lot of the roster now we get the Money In The Bank opportunity’. So then we almost get that Money In The Bank opportunity then somebody comes and steals it from underneath you [Alexa Bliss] who just escaped most of the match. She just hid most of the match. She didn’t do nothing in it. Then she comes and tips me off the ladder and she’s able to get that opportunity and I’m thinking to myself, ‘No, I’m worth more than that. I’m worth more than that and I don’t care who I have to step on to take it - I’m taking it, and then of course, being best-friends with Charlotte, I’m known as the best-friend of Charlotte. In fact there was an article about me that said, ‘Charlotte’s best friend’ blah, blah, blah, blah so I can’t even remember what’s about but it's not Becky Lynch, it’s Charlotte’s best-friend. I’m more than Charlotte’s best-friend. I’m certainly not her best-friend anymore. But the fact that they didn’t even recognize my name is so insulting and ridiculous, and to have watched her be handed the thing time and time again; be put on all the morning shows, and I sit there with her and I would tell that to her face." Becky said.

Becky continued by sharing that Charlotte would mention how tired she would be because of all that comes with being a champion in WWE. Becky stated that she would tell Charlotte she would would love "being tired" and receiving those opportunities.

"You know when she would talk about being tired - this, this or whatever and I’m like, ‘You have no idea how much I would love to be doing that’. You have no idea how much I would love to be doing that." Becky continued, "I would love those opportunities. That’s what I’ve worked my entire life for."
