Becky Lynch: Triple H Thought We Were 'Swimming Upstream' With Me As A Heel

The Man is coming back around.

At WWE SummerSlam, Becky Lynch sided with Bianca Belair after Belair defeated her to retain the WWE Raw Women's Championship. Lynch showed respect to Belair and then stood beside her as they were confronted by Bayley, IYO SKY, & Dakota Kai.

The following night, Lynch announced she would be stepping away due to a shoulder injury, but showed signs that The Man would be returning and Big Time Becks would be in the rearview mirror.

Speaking to Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Lynch discussed the decision to make her babyface again.

"I talked to Hunter a little bit before and he was like, 'How do you feel about being a heel?' I was like, 'Honestly, it's fun, I like it. I feel I'm maybe more naturally inclined to be a babyface, people like me better as a babyface. Clearly, I'm doing my job if they don't like me.' I'm just great, lads. I'm just great [laughs]. He goes, 'I feel we're swimming upstream keeping you as heel.' 'Yeah, I agree.' Then the creative was laid out and I was like, 'That sounds awesome, hell yeah, pop, pop, pop,'" she said.

Lynch became a heel during her return at WWE SummerSlam 2021 where she sucker punched Belair and quickly defeated her to win the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship. She left the company as the top babyface in May 2020 when she announced her pregnancy.

When asked about working with Triple H, Lynch said, "It's great. Obviously, he has a great mind for it. His track record with what he's done with women in NXT, I'm a product of that, I got to be in that system and become who I am today. He's really championed women's wrestling in general and not looking at it as women's wrestling. This is a story, these are two people in a story, how do we make this story good? That's what I love. How do we make this story good, no matter the gender."

Triple H assumed all creative duties in WWE following Vince McMahon's retirement in July.

Lynch is currently sidelined with a separated shoulder suffered at WWE SummerSlam. It is unknown when she will return.
