Big E discusses Bayley’s new character direction on WWE’s RAW brand.
On the September 15th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW, Bayley would make the save for Lyra Valkyria after her match with The Judgment Day. After initially looking like she would also attack Lyra, Bayley would go into a hugging frenzy, hugging anyone she could wrap her arms around. Later on in the show, Lyra would approach Bayley who was heard yelling at herself backstage, leading to Bayley also yelling at Valkyria.
While speaking on the latest episode of the RAW Recap, Big E would discuss Bayley’s evolving character, noting that it is currently making her want to tune into everything she does.
“I was excited to see the version that came out and saved Lyra, and obviously, Hugger Bayley is so iconic. We grew to love (her). So I think seeing sprinklings of that was pretty cool. But then seeing a very different version in the locker room makes me question where all of this is headed. Is this some kind of split personality? Is she playing mind games here? I’m not sure what’s going on. I think that same confusion that I had sitting at home is the confusion that I saw on Lyra’s face as well, not sure what to make of this version of Bayley. I thought that the last several weeks last month or so that we’ve seen these vignettes of Bayley, you don’t know whether she’s coming or going, you don’t know whose side she’s on. You don’t know where her mind is at. But what i do love is that we’re seeing a very interesting Bayley. It makes me want to tune into everything she says and does, because i have no idea where this is going.”
When it was pointed out that Bayley had been through a lot this year, Big E would agree, noting that being on the road can wear on a WWE superstars mental health.
“She has. Poor woman had her WrestleMania spot taken from her by Becky. She’s been through a lot, and I think it shows. I think she is ready to snap, and to your point, spending as much time as you do on the road can definitely wear on your mental health. So yeah, I don’t know what to make of this version of Bayley, but she’s been pushed too far, clearly. Well, I mean, you hear all these stories about how Bayley is so good for the locker room and she’s always there. I was a little taken aback to see that she not only has her own room, but oftentimes when people have their own room, they’ll invite others in. It was just her. And there was a lot of yelling in there, but it was just Bayley, and I found that curious.”
Elsewhere in the same appearance, E spoke about destroyers in wrestling, noting that he is a big supporter of the move. You can read more about that here.
