Big E Never Heard A Finish For Fatal Four-Way At WWE Day 1

Big E lost the WWE Championship at WWE Day 1, getting pinned by Brock Lesnar in a fatal five-way bout.

Lesnar was a late addition to the bout, which was originally scheduled to be a fatal four-way with Big E defending against Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Bobby Lashley. Lesnar was added just before the event as a result of Roman Reigns testing positive for COVID. Lesnar was originally set to challenge for the WWE Universal Championship against Reigns.

According to Dave Meltzer, writing for Sports Illustrated, the original script called for Big E to lose the title to Rollins.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Big E said he never heard the original finish for WWE Day 1.

“I never heard a finish [for the four-way],” he said. “When it became a four-way, especially one so loaded, anything was a possibility. But I hadn’t heard anything about a finish.”

When discussing the end of his title reign, Big E said, “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed to see it end that way, and it’s not anything against Brock. Brock is a very special athlete, human and performer. There is no shame in losing to Brock Lesnar."

Elsewhere during the conversation, Big E discussed his plans following his WWE Championship loss, saying he's "not okay" with being another guy on the roster. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
