Based on Big E's tweet, the incident occurred during the six-man tag team match on SmackDown when Cesaro came off the top rope with a crossbody. Big E was supposed to catch him, but his knee gave out, causing him to collapse. The two tried to save the spot with a roll through. Big E continued to the match, which was won by New Day when Kofi Kingston hit Sheamus with the Trouble In Paradise.

The injury did not occur when Big E did the splits in the opening segment of the show.

WWE issued the following comment on Big E's injury:

Big E of The New Day has suffered a torn meniscus, according to a tweet from the Superstar posted Thursday afternoon.

He is not currently medically cleared for action.
