Big Show Says He Didn't Know He Was Returning To WWE Raw Until Two Days Before The Show

Big Show's surprise return to Monday Night Raw shocked many as he hasn't been in the ring in well over a year and even he didn't have much time to know about it.

When Show returned to Raw last week to help out Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe face Seth Rollins and AOP, it had been nearly two years since he wrestled on WWE's red brand. But the surprise wasn't something that was in the works for weeks. In fact, Show didn't know he was returning to Raw until only roughly 36 hours before the show.

"It's like they said, 'You haven't wrestled competitively in two years, but in 36 hours you're going to be on Raw and, oh yeah, don't tell anybody,'" Show told ESPN in an interview.

Show would quickly learn that his return was meant to be a complete secret, even to the entire locker room. The ESPN article noted how WWE talent had an app that would have travel details shared on there, but Show's travel plans to Raw were only sent to him.

"If I had had a fax machine, they probably would have faxed it. I'm surprised a pigeon didn't drop it off at my front door. It was really old school. One of those 2 a.m. phone calls from someone who never sleeps and also built a billion-dollar company," Show said.

But after wrestling for decades and competing on some of the biggest shows in the world, Show didn't really feel that nervous heading into his return last week. In fact, Show said he was calm throughout the whole trip heading to Raw.

"I've had plenty of butterflies before WrestleMania or some of the bigger shows we had around the world. But there were so many little battles that I had in the last year and a half that I fought and won, that this moment for me was ... I was calm. Calm when I got the phone call, on the flight to Oklahoma City, on the way to the arena and waiting to come out. I knew I had fought for this. I had earned this. This moment is yours," Show said.

Now, after helping Owens and Joe, the trio will team up once again to face Rollins and AOP in a "Fist Fight" on the January 13 edition of Raw. Fightful will have live coverage of Raw.
