Bill Alfonso Says BBC Recently Contacted Him For An Interview About Giant Gonzalez

Bill Alfonso says he was contacted by the BBC to speak about the Giant Gonzalez.

Giant Gonzalez, known as El Gigante in WCW, had brief stints in both major North American wrestling promotions in the early 1990s. While he is not as fondly remembered as Andre the Giant, Gonzalez carved out a legacy for himself for fans of that generation.

Bill Alfonso, former wrestling manager and referee, was Gonzalez's handler during his WWE run. Fonzie speaking on the second episode of his Right Down The Middle podcast, revealed that he was recently contacted by the BBC to do an interview about his time with Gonzalez.

"So BBC just contacted me today and they want to interview me. They want to talk about Giant Gonzalez. I was an assistant for three years for him. We traveled the world. Man, we were on movies, and Baywatch, and Hulk Hogan's Thunder in Paradise, and all kinds of shows, and [it was] really cool."

The Undertaker, who famously wrestled Giant Gonzalez at WrestleMania 9 and WWE SummerSlam in 1993, was recently quoted as saying Giant Gonzalez made The Great Khali look like Lou Thesz in the ring. Read his comments here.
