Billie Kay Needs To Adjust To Singles Wrestling, Finds Solace In What The IIconics Accomplished

Billie Kay is going to need an adjustment period to get used to being on TV without Peyton Royce but she feels comforted by what they were able to accomplish together as The IIconics.

The IIconics, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce we're separated in the WWE 2020 Draft. Prior to this, they were forced to disband as a team after they lost a match on Monday Night Raw to Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott.

The Elite: We're Getting AEW Back To What It Was Supposed To Be

Speaking with Kayla Braxton on her IGTV series, The Braxton Beat, Billie Kay would admit that the few times she has been to the ring without Peyton, she felt lost and “didn’t know what to do with her hands.” However, Billie Kay would admit that she finds solace in what they were able to accomplish together and that their chemistry does not end with their pairing on television because they are one another's rock.

“It makes me so happy to think of everything that we accomplished, like you said, we did everything together. We were training for our tryout together, we were at the same tryout, we were side by side the whole time, we got signed to WWE together, moved over here together, lived together, and our number one goal was we really wanted to help pioneer this era of women's tag team wrestling,” said Kay. “So to be a part of, first of all, to debut on the SmackDown after WrestleMania [34], that was like a dream come true. So that was like bucket list number one ticked. Then, we were able to do a bunch of just like really cool stuff that we've always wanted to do as a tag team. Wrestle in Melbourne, Australia, in front of all of our friends and family in front of like 80,000 people. So that was bucket list number two, ticked off as a tag team. Then we go into Elimination Chamber where we're competing for the Women's Tag Team Championships, so that was another tick off and then we were able to win the tag team titles at WrestleMania.”

She continued, “Those feel like points and memories, that's what we've worked for. So, the fact that we accomplished everything that we could have dreamed of and more, it doesn't make it okay that we're not a tag team anymore, but at least we can move on to this next chapter of our lives knowing that we put our heart and soul, blood, sweat, tears, everything into The IIconics. We literally like breathed tag team wrestling. We were one person. It's so special to me, and I always say that my relationship with her is the most important in my life, and it is. When people always ask, 'oh, how do you guys have that chemistry? Like, how do you get that?' It's spending, you know, over 15 years together. It's being each other's rock. It's being there for each other no matter what. It's spending your off days, which we don't get many, together. It's reading each other's minds. It's texting on our off days. There is not one thing that she doesn't know about me and vice versa. So that's what our chemistry was. So just because that's not in the ring anymore, it's still very much alive outside of the ring and all that.”

Now, Billie Kay is a member of the Friday Night SmackDown roster and she says that moving forward, she needs to focus on herself and readjusting her in-ring style as she is somebody who was so intensely focused on tag team wrestling that now her whole mindset has to change.

Fightful will have live coverage of SmackDown every Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern.
