Billie Starkz Says ROH Studio Tapings And Changes Are Baby Steps To Make The Product Better
Billie Starkz speaks on changes to ROH TV.
Ring of Honor has undergone a change in how they’ve done tapings over the last month, moving away from taping matches before and after AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision to holding studio tapings at WJCT Studios in Jacksonville, Florida.
Billie Starkz has been one of the faces of the ROH women’s division since February 2023. She was the first-ever ROH Women’s World Television Champion and has challenged for the ROH Women’s Title and ROH Women’s Pure Title.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert and Joel Pearl of Fightful, Billie spoke about moving from taping after AEW TV to having set studio tapings.
“It’s been a great experience so far. Having it truly focused on ROH and our roster has been so helpful for everyone who needed that extra minute and extra time to figure out our lives through ROH,” she said.
Asked if the approach differs being in front of the same crowd every month as opposed to a different crowd every week, Billie replied, “For someone like me, who has been able to be in front of so many different crowds, it doesn’t bother. I do feel the atmosphere shift because it is a different type of crowd than you would get after Dynamite or Collision. These crowds showed up just for ROH, and they’ve been here for a couple of weeks, so we can’t be predictable and give them something we gave them last week. We have to give them something new, and having this time in Jacksonville where it’s just about ROH is giving us that time to do that.”
ROH held its first set of tapings on March 1 and its second set on March 22. Changes from the first set to the second set were noticeable as the second set had more character and distinction with extra additions.
Speaking about the changes, Billie said, “It was very noticeable. I was getting off the bus with somebody and we both had that moment of, ‘Oh, this has changed so much.’ It’s taken baby steps to get there, but all these little baby steps are adding up to make the product so much better.”
Billie challenged Deonna Purrazzo for the ROH Women’s Pure Title on the March 19 episode of ROH TV.
She will be in action at ROH x MLP Global Wars on Friday, March 27. Fans can learn more about the event and order it by clicking here.
