Billy Jack Haynes Deemed Fit For Trial In Wife’s Murder Case, Trial Date Set For Next Year

Trial date set in Billy Jack Haynes’ murder case.

In February 2024, William Albert Haynes III, also known as Billy Jack Haynes, was charged with second-degree murder plus unlawful use of a weapon for allegedly shooting and killing his wife, Janette Becraft. Later, Haynes was deemed unfit to assist in his own trial. 

An elder abuse lawsuit was also filed against him by his late wife, Janette Becraft’s estate, in May 2025.

In an update of the situation, KATU TV reported that the court found Haynes “gained fitness to proceed” in February. Judge Angela Lucero has set the trial date for next year between April 26 and May 7.
