Bobby Lashley: "Lio Rush Is A Star And He's Helped Me Out Across The Board"

Bobby Lashley recalls Vince McMahon approaching him about being paired with Lio Rush.

"The 24-Year Old Piece Of Gold" Lio Rush has been accompanying former two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley to the ring since Fall of 2018. Lashley and Lio have had their ups and downs and a negative was added this past Sunday at WrestleMania when "Demon King" Finn Balor arose and took back the Intercontinental Title from Lashley.

Nonetheless, Lio is sticking by Lashley and during a recent interview with Sun Sport, Lashley shared how fond he is of Lio. Lashley referred to Lio as a star and recalled Vince McMahon initially approaching him about being paired with Lio which has led to them developing on-screen and off-screen chemistry.

“Lio’s a star and he’s helped me out across the board. I actually started following him just after he signed. I liked his matches and liked his promos. So when Vince came to me and said, ‘I want to put you with this Lio guy,’ and I just said, ‘That’s phenomenal.’ From there we just started having fun. We’ve been together about six months and we’ll be at WrestleMania defending the title. So what we’re able to do by 2020 is going to be huge.” Lashley said.
