Bobby Lashley wants to try to steal the show at SummerSlam in a match with Goldberg in 2021.
Bobby Lashley vs. Bill Goldberg is the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam 2021. This will only be the second time that Goldberg competes for a World Championship at SummerSlam and the first time he is doing so in a one-on-one encounter.
While everyone expects this match to be mostly an attraction and limited in the number of maneuvers that will be pulled off in the match, Bobby Lashley tells Sports Illustrated that he is very confident in Goldberg’s ability and welcome to the challenge of being the match that steals the show at this year's SummerSlam event.
“I welcome this challenge,” Lashley says. “I feel confident getting in the ring with Goldberg, and I think we can do more than people expect. I want us to be the match that people are still talking about after the show is over.”
He later added, “I listen to [motivational speaker] Les Brown, and it hit me when he said that the cemetery is filled with wasted possibility. I never want to leave this earth and see that I didn’t go after what I wanted. I stay motivated with everything I do. Otherwise, when this is done, you’re going to be buried with possibility. I never want that. I want to exhaust every possibility I can do.
“I’m a champion that puts in the work. People are going to see my aggression at SummerSlam. There is nothing else like it. When I get in the ring against Goldberg, I’m going to do what I love to do, and that’s beat Goldberg up and kick his ass.”
