Booker T: John Cena "Was Not The Best Worker, But One Of The Smartest Guys I've Ever Worked With"

Booker T discusses John Cena's ability as a worker.

During a recent episode of "The Hall of Fame with Booker T and Brad Gilmore," the former World Heavyweight Champion discussed Cena's workrate and their history in the ring. Booker admitted that Cena was limited because he didn't have that many moves under his repertoire, Cena was incredibly smart in terms of knowing what to do with that limited moveset.

Booker also talked about the best-of-five series he and Cena had in 2004 for the United States Championship, which Cena won 3-2. Booker added that he was happy giving Cena the chance to teach him inside the ring and to put him over. The two would end up wrestling each other multiple times throughout the years since that best-of-five series.

"I always say John Cena was never the best worker. He was a guy that was very limited as far as moveset and stuff like that. He'll probably be the first one to tell you that. Let me tell you, John Cena was one of the smartest guys I have ever had the pleasure to work with. When John Cena and I did the best of five series, this guy loves sitting under the learning tree and I was the guy to give him the rub. I saw how good John Cena was and I knew this guy could be the face of the company. I knew this guy could carry it as well. So for me to get in the ring and do my best to put him over, that was awesome. To see him learn the art of Shakespeare, I really appreciate it because he's still doing it to this day," Booker said.
