Braun Strowman Helping Raquel Gonzalez Develop More Of A Bodybuilding Training Regiment

“The Monster Among Men” has been helping “Big Mami Cool” as she trains for the NXT Championship match at TakeOver.

Recently, it was announced that Raquel Gonzalez will challenge Io Shirai for the NXT Championship during the first night of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver on Wednesday, April 7 on USA Network.

During an interview with Muscle & Fitness Hers, where the match was originally announced, it was stated that Braun Strowman is helping Raquel "switch from a full-body CrossFit-type routine to a more traditional bodybuilding training style."

“I’ve been doing a lot of movements that I know I’m going to use in the ring when it comes to throwing around people,” Gonzalez says of her current improvements. “Io is probably half my size, so I know I’ll be throwing her around a lot, for sure.”

She also stated that while the incumbent NXT Champion may be brave, Gonzalez doesn't feel that Shirai is ready for her and the mindset she's bringing to this championship match

“Physically, I’m more agile and I run a lot more,” she explains. “My endurance is higher, my jumping is higher. A lot of stuff has just become a lot easier for me.

“Io, you're a brave girl, but, I don’t think you’re ready for a competitor like me. The last powerhouse she faced was Rhea Ripley — and that was months ago. I know she is the best in the world, and to be the best you have to beat the best. So I’m coming in with the most excited and anticipated mindset that I can.”

Fightful will have live coverage of both nights of NXT TakeOver in addition to all of the events during WrestleMania weekend.
