Braun Strowman Wants To Main Event WrestleMania 36 Against Drew McIntyre

Braun Strowman has booked the WrestleMania 36 main event.

Braun Strowman has only appeared in one WrestleMania main card match in his four years on the main roster, but he's ready for the main event spot. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Strowman showed confidence in his own abilities and his future in WWE.

“I will main event WrestleMania,” said Strowman. “Hopefully more than once on my way to a Hall of Fame career. I’ll start with a main event against Drew McIntyre. And I’ll tell you who will win: me.”

This past year at WrestleMania 35, Strowman won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the WrestleMania kick-off show, last eliminating Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che. The appearance by the SNL stars was more than a one-off as the duo spent weeks building up the angle and match with The Monster Among Men.

“Mania was great, I had the opportunity to work with some pop culture guys doing a little bridging outside of the gap of what I’ve normally done with my character,” said Strowman. “That was a good thing because it got my face out in front of more mainstream media and audiences that don’t necessarily watch wrestling. We were just talking about this at work, and I want to say it had 257 million views in outlets outside of wrestling in a matter of a week. It wasn’t ideally what I wanted to do at WrestleMania, but it was a good thing to do at WrestleMania.”

Before Strowman can think about main eventing WrestleMania, he has to find a spot on the upcoming SummerSlam card. As of now, Strowman is not scheduled to compete at WWE SummerSlam on Aug. 11.
