Bret Hart has always spoken affectionately about Natalya and the two have been together on WWE television with Bret managing Natalya for matches.
Natalya uses the sharpshooter to pay homage to her Uncle and Bret believes Natalya is a pioneer in the world of wrestling.
"She's a pioneer, breaking new ground every day," Bret told SportsKeeda.
When asked about Natalya's sharpshooter and why it might not be as effective as Bret's, he joked, "You have to talk to the writers [laughs]."
Natalya's sharpshooter was plenty effective on Friday's WWE SmackDown when Ronda Rousey suffered a "serious injury" as a result of the hold.
Bret was linked to AEW thanks to his relationship with FTR and AEW holding the Owen Hart Foundation Memorial Tournament, but never appeared on television throughout the tournament.
When asked about AEW honoring Owen, Bret said, "I'm happy to see Owen remembered in any way. It was very nice."
