Bret Hart Condemns Vince McMahon Over Misconduct Allegations, 'He Became A Predator, Used Wrestling As A Backdrop For Evil'

Bret Hart comments on the allegations of sexual misconduct that would ultimately see Vince McMahon removed from WWE.

Bret Hart and Vince McMahon had a roller coaster relationship during the former's time as an active WWE wrestler. Most famously, Hart stayed away from WWE for over a decade after Vince McMahon double-crossed him at the 1997 WWE Survivor Series in an incident that would go on to be known as the Montreal Screwjob.

Bret Hart eventually returned to WWE in 2010 and worked directly with McMahon on television. These days, McMahon is no longer with WWE following sexual assault allegations from a former employee. Hart commented on the allegations during a recent appearance on The Rise Guys podcast. He would say that he believes McMahon became a predator over time and began to use wrestling as a backdrop for his alleged abhorrent behavior.

"Everything that happened with John Laurinaitis and the things they were doing with that poor girl, shame on all of them. That's just terrible. I've had all my ups and downs with Vince McMahon, and in a lot of ways, I have a lot of respect for him, but at the same time, I find what happened there inexcusable and there's no place for that," he said. "I think Vince McMahon became a predator and used wrestling as his backdrop for all of his evil. This tells me that too much money can turn you into a bad person."

In the past, Hart has called the punch he delivered to McMahon after the 1997 WWE Survivor Series a perfect shot. Learn more here.

In January 2024, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE, accusing McMahon of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking. The lawsuit is still active.
