Bret Hart Receives Star On Canada’s Walk of Fame

Bret Hart receives a special honor.

Hart is widely viewed as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He had a lengthy career with WWE, which included five world title reigns, a Royal Rumble win, two King of the Ring victories, and two Intercontinental Championship reigns, among other accolades. His time in WWE came to an end with the Montreal Screwjob in 1997, and he jumped ship to WCW. Hart's in-ring career came to a premature conclusion due to a concussion he suffered in a match against Goldberg at WCW Starrcade 1999, as he retired in October 2000. Hart returned to WWE in 2010 and wrestled a few more matches. He has continued to make appearances for the company over the years.

As reported by Jack Wannan for POST Wrestling, Hart received a star on Canada's Walk of Fame in downtown Toronto on May 26. 11 new inductees were added to the walk, which includes over 200 Canadians. The Walk of Fame was established in 1998, and it has honored various celebrities, athletes, and public figures, but Hart became the first wrestler to be honored with a star.

Per Wannan, Hart commented on the occasion and expressed how much the honor meant to him.

“I just want to say how special it was for me to be a wrestling hero or a TV hero for so many Canadians across the country,” Hart said after revealing his spot on the walk. “I’ve had such a great journey and such a great ride and I’m really proud of my career. I’ve always been especially proud of being from Canada and spreading my name and the goodwill of Canada across the world. I’d like to think that I showed everybody that Canadians can be the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be," Hart said.

Hart's induction was initially announced in 2021, but the ceremony was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
