The IMPACT World Title match is set for IMPACT's return to Nashville
Following the conclusion of tonight's episode of IMPACT Wrestling, the company announced that Johnny Impact will defend the IMPACT World Title against Brian Cage on Jan. 6 at Homecoming. On Thursday's episode of IMPACT Wrestling, Cage retained the X Division title, defeating Sami Callihan in the main event. Following his victory, Cage relinquished the X Division Title, cashing in his Option C clause to get a crack at Impact's strap.

Cage won the X Division title from Matt Sydal at Slammiversary in July. Option C was invented in 2012 by Austin Aries and allows the current X Division Champion to vacate the title in order to get a match with the current IMPACT World Champion. Option C has not been mentioned since 2016 and was originally intended to be used prior to Destination X.
