Brian Cage Feels The Core AEW Audience Hates On Him Because He Has WWE Attributes

Brian Cage comments on fans opinions on him.

Brian Cage has been a staple in AEW since his debut in the Casino Ladder Match at AEW Double or Nothing 2020. He's been part of Team Taz and a former FTW Champion, and now he's part of the Mogul Embassy and one-third of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Cage was asked if he feels he's been underappreciated in AEW.

"In certain regards, yes. With our core audience at AEW, I feel they almost hate on me because of all those attributes [size, charisma, mic work, athleticism], I almost feel like that screams WWE. In some regards, it's almost like anti-me, 'He doesn't belong here. He's too jacked, he does this,' which are all positives in my book, but it feels like 'I'm on the wrong team.' I can toot my own horn and say, they can't be me, so they'd rather attach on to a Darby Allin or someone they can live more viciously through as opposed to someone like me," he said.

Cage is set to team with Big Bill on Friday's AEW Rampage in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament against Trent Beretta & Matt Sydal.
