Brian Gewirtz Says No One Looked Happy At WrestleMania 2000 Afterparty, Disappointment Paved The Way For ‘The Greatest Mania Ever’

April 1, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of WrestleMania X-7, considered to be the greatest WrestleMania of all-time by many fans.
The event was headlined by Steve Austin against The Rock, and also featured The Undertaker vs. Triple H, Vince McMahon vs. Shane McMahon, the TLC match between Edge and Christian, The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) and The Hardy Boyz (Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy), and more.
On social media, Brian Gewirtz explained how the disappointment of WrestleMania 2000 led to WrestleMania X-7.
“Will never forget the afterparty of WM 2000. No one looked happy. It was like “um…did we just shit the bed with an overbooked mess of a show and desperately need to get back to 1-1 matches with huge personal issues?” Big letdown that paved the way for the greatest Mania ever imo,” he wrote.

WrestleMania 2000 was headlined by Triple H vs. Mick Foley vs. The Big Show vs. The Rock with a McMahon in every corner. Triple H won the match, marking the first time a heel had won in the main event of Mania.
