Brian Kendrick: I Always Pictured Bryan Danielson As My Final Opponent

Brian Kendrick wants his last opponent to be a romantic story.

Brian Kendrick remains active in independent wrestling and running his own promotion Wrestling Pro Wrestling. While it is unknown when Kendrick will officially wrap up his career, he has a couple of ideas as to who he would like to face when that time comes.

"I don't know what it would be because I'd want it to be whatever the most romantic is," Kendrick said when asked about a last match on Reffin It Up With Brian Hebner. "What's the most beautiful story? An easy one is Bryan Danielson because we started together. That's who I always pictured my last match being against. Could it be against someone who trained me like (William) Regal or Shawn Michaels or Regal's son [Charlie Dempsey]? Do I have my last match putting over the son of my mentor, that's really romantic. Ilja Dragunov is a guy who I'm absolutely dying to wrestle. My favorite person to wrestle is Rich Swann, so do I have it against my favorite guy to work? I want to think hard on it, but it would have to be the most romantic."

Kendrick was set to debut for AEW on February 2, 2022, but was pulled after old clips and comments surfaced of Kendrick giving conspiracy theories related to the Holocaust. Kendrick's remarks included him saying the Sandy Hook shooting was faked, that the Holocaust was overblown to justify the creation of Israel, and that World War 2 concentration camps were for delousing. He worked as a producer at WWE Survivor Series 2022 for Ronda Rousey's match against Shotzi.
