Brian Kendrick says he was almost paired with Sheamus before a pairing with Ezekiel Jackson came about in the late 2000s.

In the late 2000s, Brian Kendrick would be repackaged as a slimey heel that would be paired with a heater big man in Ezekiel Jackson, with the partnership being used on WWE television for over a year before the pair would split.

While speaking to Southys Wrestling Media in a new interview, Brian Kendrick would reveal that he was almost paired with Sheamus before the decision was made to move forward with the pairing with Ezekiel Jackson.

“I was in a land of giants and I was a shrimp. I’m the one who picked them. It was decided a heater would be best, and I went down to Tampa, and it was either him or Sheamus, and obviously, Sheamus went on to do wonderful things, but I liked the contrast in looks. Me, a small white guy, him, a big black man. Me, this shrimp hiding behind his muscles. He looks slick. and intimidating, and I’m real cocky, what I have nothing to be cocky about. So I think like just visually in every which way, it was a nice combination.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Brian reflected on almost getting to work with Eddie Guerrero early on in his WWE career. You can read more about that here.
