The Briscoes Like How GCW Gets Down, Say It Has That Old ECW Flame

Mark & Jay Briscoe are expecting to leave GCW War Ready with gold around their waists.

Just under two weeks ago, Game Changer Wrestling announced that The Briscoes will challenge Second Gear Crew (Mance Warner & Matthew Justice) on October 23 at War Ready. The match came about after Mark and Jay made a surprise appearance at GCW Fight Club, stepping to the Second Gear Crew after they issued a challenge by saying no team could take the titles from them.

Speaking with Bodyslam.net, The Briscoes commented on their match with Second Gear Crew, their history with GCW and their appreciation for what the promotion is doing as a whole.

Jay Briscoe: “We comin’. We coming’. We here to take the titles. We need to get strapped up, and that’s what we gonna do.”

Mark Briscoe: “What we do is tag team rasslin’. 21 years now, tag team rasslin’, tag team action baby. And GCW.. little known.. formerly known as JCW. You lookin’ at the former JCW Light Heavyweight Champion.. We was in Garfield, NJ back in 2002.. Shoot.. talkin’ bout their neighborhood.. shoot. I understand that, but we talkin’ bout the North East indies.”

Jay Briscoe: “We OG’s in the game, baby. OG’s in the game.”

Mark Briscoe: “This is North East Indies, and I like how GCW get down. They got that flame ya know what I mean? That old ECW.. that flame.”

GCW has become known for their hardcore/ultra-violent style, but if you ask Jay and Mark, that doesn't give anyone the advantage over them.

Jay Briscoe: “Shiiiiittttttt…. I mean Shiiieeeettttt.”

Mark Briscoe: “Them boys rough, and them boys tough, but hey… It ain’t even.. “

Jay Briscoe: “Tune in to find out. Tune in to find out.“

During Fight Club, GCW owner Brett Lauderdale announced that Game Changer Wrestling will run the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on January 23, 2022. The venue famously hosted many ECW events and was the home for ECW One Night Stand in June 2005 and June 2006.

GCW War Ready will be headlined by Minoru Suzuki against Nick Gage. Plus, Jonathan Gresham takes on Alex Zayne and Psycho Clown will make his GCW debut.

Fightful will have coverage and results from GCW War Ready later tonight.
