Britt Baker Intentionally Uses "Dr." And "D.M.D." To Be An Ass, Knows That Saying Both Is Redundant

Did you know that Britt Baker is an actual dentist?

Britt Baker was AEW first Women's Division signing and has gone on to be a key contributor for the promotion in its first two years. Early on, fans bemoaned commentary's insistence on mentioning Baker's other career as a dentist. During a recent Planet Comic-Con interview, the AEW Women's Champion said that when she transitioned into a more villainous role, she decided to lean into the hatred and really remind people of what she does when she's not wrestling.

Jim Ross Says Double Or Nothing 2019 Bout Is The Best Match That He's Called In AEW So Far

Furthermore, Baker added that it's redundant to say both "Dr." and "D.M.D.," noting that she does it on purpose to add to her character's obnoxiousness. That said, she was blown away when fans were allowed back in attendance and chanted along with her name.

"The DMD thing, it was -- So when Jim Ross specifically was always just saying, you know, ‘She's a dentist, she’s a dentist,’ and the fans hated it. But when I turned heel I said, ‘Well I'm really gonna lean into that. I'm going to make sure that we say even more, ‘Oh, I'm a dentist, I’m a dentist.’ When Justin Roberts would just say D.M.D. I just did it to be an ass; just D.M.D. to really reiterate it. Actually saying doctor and D.M.D. before and after, you don’t have to, it's redundant. You're saying the same thing twice, but that's intentional. I do that on purpose. It just caught on and I didn't even know that fans would start saying until we had one of the live shows back. I went to do it after the promo and the entire crowd did it with me and I almost stopped dead in my tracks because I've done it to dead silence this whole pandemic. So then when they did it with me it was really cool," Baker said.

Up next for Britt inside the ring is a defence of her AEW Women's Championship against Kris Statlander at AEW All Out on September 5. Fightful will have live coverage of the event this Sunday beginning at 7 p.m. EST.
