Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Roman Reigns Taken Later In Draft Than Expected, Cena Comments

Mock drafts aren't always right, even in the world of sports entertainment. WWE's 2016 Draft highlighted that point.

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns was selected at number six, much lower than many expected he would go. Reigns is involved in this weekend's WWE Championship triple threat match at Battleground, but has been suspended for the past month after a wellness policy violation.

Speaking of violations, Brock Lesnar failed two USADA-administered tests and is temporarily suspended, but will still likely compete at Summerslam against Randy Orton, who was selected ninth. Brock Lesnar was picked at number eight, even though many suspected he'd be picked in the first round despite rare appearances.

John Cena was selected to Smackdown at number 7, just days after his final scheduled North American live event. Booker T noted that when he was there, they called Smackdown "the B show," before asking Cena is he felt like he was demoted.

"Whoever thinks Raw is the flagship after this pick, is in for a rude awakening," Cena said, before clarifying that he doesn't see it as a demotion. "I will prove to my colleagues and my brand-mates that everything can be done at once," Cena said of his busy schedule.
