Brodie Lee Recalls Vince McMahon Approving The Bludgeon Brothers Gear While Getting A Massage

In October 2017, Brodie Lee (formerly Luke Harper in WWE) and Erik Rowan re-united as The Bludgeon Brothers in WWE. The duo had been split earlier in the year as part of the Wyatt family falling apart.

The idea to put the two men back together despite their rivalry just months earlier came from Vince McMahon, who liked the two better together than apart. And Vince's vision for the two was Demolition 2017.

"It became 'Vince wants to put you guys back together and give you a big push and he wants you to be like Demolition.' I was like, I don't know if we can wear Demolition gear in 2018. I didn't know if it would fly. He was actually cool enough to let us revamp it and pitch him our own creative ideas," Lee recalled on Talk is Jericho. "We were shown a picture of Demolition and told, 'This is what he wants you guys to be.' Literally, a picture of Demolition."

Lee then discussed the Bludgeon Brothers gear and how Vince approved things despite Lee and Rowan not feeling it.

"We finally get the [Bludgeon Brother] gear and put it on and I'm like, 'We look like a couple of fucking idiots.' I wasn't feeling it. People thought it looked cool. It was a singlet top, crazy pants with shit all over them, lots of stitching, trench coat jackets with hoods, one sleeve, we had a giant mallet, that we were not allowed to call a sledgehammer for obvious reasons. We had to put these outfits on and Vince wanted to see them. We put it all on, smack on his door, he yells 'Come in!' We open the door and he's getting a massage. Larry the trainer is massaging, I believe his calf, and he's cackling as we walk in. Vince looks up and goes, 'Yup, love it.' I go, 'Did you want to see the other..' 'Nope, love it.' And he puts his head back down and keeps getting a massage. That was that," he said.

The Bludgeon Brothers would go on to win the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles before injuries caused them to split following SummerSlam 2018.

Elsewhere during the interview, Lee discussed how Vince McMahon only say him as one character despite pitches to do something else. You can find Lee's full comments by clicking here
