Bron Breakker Admits Using 'Bron Breakker' Name Was His Idea

Bron Breakker discusses the origin behind his name.

Breakker was originally slated as being called "Rex Steiner," paying homage to his father Rick Steiner, but the decision was made to cut the Steiner name out and go with Bron Breakker instead.

Speaking to Graham GSM Matthews of Daily DDT, Breakker admitted that the name change was his idea.

“We were just sitting around one day and I’m like, ‘Well, when I used to block people in football, I used to try to break them in half. That was literally what I tried to do: snap them in half and break them. What if I’m the breaker? I break people, Breakker, and then it came to me. Bron is part of my first name and that’s what we went with," he said.

There have been plenty of references to the Steiner name during Breakker's time on NXT with shouts of "Dog Faced Gremlin" and "Big Bad Booty Nephew."

Breakker is fine with references to his family, but wants to create a legacy of his own.

“What my dad and uncle did before me with some of their promos and stuff that they’ve done, they’ve laid all this groundwork,” Breakker said. “There’s all this stuff out there for me to use if I want to. Obviously, I’m not going to bank my entire… that’s not what I’m going for. I want to make a name for myself and stand on my own, but there’s certain things out there we can use.”

Breakker is set to compete in the men's WarGames match at NXT WarGames, leading Team 2.0 against Team Black & Gold. You can view the current lineup for NXT WarGames by clicking here.
