Bruce Boudreau Gives Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn Advice Ahead Of WWE Night Of Champions

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens got some advice from a legendary coach.

In a WWE Raw Exclusive, Owens and Zayn reflected on their match on the May 22 episode of WWE Raw, where they teamed up with Matt Riddle to defeat Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci). They were approached by former NHL coach Boudreau, who gave them some advice ahead of their match against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa at WWE Night of Champions.

Details Behind Drew McIntyre's WWE Contract Talks

Kevin Owens: Man, that was a rough one.

Sami Zayn: Yeah, we came out on top.

KO: Yeah, but Gunther’s a tough guy.

SZ: I know. We could do better.

Bruce Boudreau: Woah, woah, woah. Kevin, Sami, you guys did okay out there. But I mean, you get knocked out of the ring, you don’t stay out for five minutes. Next week, when you’re in Saudi, you can’t afford to do that. Sami, we need you a little more active in the ring. I thought you were trying to get the tag, but you weren’t really stretching that hard.

Zayn stated that he should write some of Boudreau's advice down, and the former NHL coach continued. Owens chimed in, as he agreed with Boudreau's feedback, and the duo somewhat ganged up on Zayn. Boudreau then told the champions that he will be watching their match at WWE Night of Champions, and he's expecting big things.

BB: Well, you gotta move a little bit more.

KO: You gonna want it, right?

BB: If you don’t want it, you gotta really want it.

KO: Yeah, we gotta feel it. You’re on the apron, you’re waiting for that tag, you gotta want it.

BB: It’s not just sitting out there, just because you gotta waste some time.

KO: What are you waiting for? You’re there with your hand out. Come on, man. Get in there.

BB: Get in there.

SZ: Sorry, coach.

BB: Next time. I’ll be watching on Saturday. I’m expecting big things from you guys.

KO: We won’t disappoint you, Bruce. We got this.

Boudreau then offered his services to the champions, as he told them that they could speak again if they needed to. Owens suggested that they could have a FaceTime call. Zayn then agreed that Boudreau's advice was about getting them in the frame of mind, and he told the coach that he needed to be held accountable.

BB: Just text me if you, before the match, if you’re not feeling or something, and then we’ll talk a little bit more. That’ll get you in the right frame of mind.

KO: That sounds perfect. Maybe a FaceTime call. We gotta get in the right frame of mind.

Zayn: The right frame of mind. That’s what we need. You’re right. This is what I need. I need you on my ass more. You know what I’m saying? On me. That’s what I need. I need to be held accountable.

Zayn got animated, and he accidentally slapped Owens, who asked Boudreau to tell Zayn not to do that. Boudreau told the duo that teammates are supposed to love each other, and Owens and Zayn responded by fist-bumping each other.

Boudreau has named Owens as one of his favorite wrestlers, and they previously met on-screen when Owens appeared at the 2022 NHL Draft. More information is available here.
