Bruce Prichard says Shawn Michaels had the idea for One of the most important units that make up the D-Generation X faction as a whole.

Road Dogg and Billy Gunn, the New Age Outlaws, rose to prominence at the same time as Shawn Michaels and Hunter Hearst Helmsley were forming D-Generation X. Prior to then, Rockabilly and Jesse James were floundering on the WWE roster.

During the A&E Biography special on D-Generation X, WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard credited Shawn Michaels with the idea of putting Billy and Road Dogg together.

"It was Shawn. I remember Shawn coming to us and going, 'Hey, man, get these guys out of the silly gimmicks put them together as a tag team, Road Dogg and Rockabilly. That'll be a hell of a team," Bruce recalled.

Unfortunately, because Shawn Michaels would retire for several years in 1998, the New Age Outlaws joining D-Generation X occurred on the very night following Shawn Michaels' departure. However, all six original members of DX were included as part of the induction in 2019 when DX entered the Hall of Fame.
