Bruce Prichard On Ultimate Warrior: ‘From The Very First Interaction With Him, He Was A First-Class A**hole’

Bruce Prichard shares his negative experience with The Ultimate Warrior.
The Ultimate Warrior was a controversial name for WWE. He debuted at a time when the company was trying to find a Hulk Hogan replacement. Warrior became a top draw for WWE, but had several falling-out moments with Vince and was released multiple times as a result.
On Something to Wrestle With, Bruce Prichard talks about The Ultimate Warrior. He recalled his first meeting with him, where he realized Warrior was an asshole.
“I first met Jim Hellwig when he was three months in the business in Mid-South. From the very first interaction with him, he was a first-class asshole. He was not a good person. He was difficult to work with, thought he knew it all. He was just a real jerk.
He ran out when Bill Watts cracked him in the head with a baseball bat, and he literally ran away and left the territory in the middle of the night. So I didn’t have good experience with him. When he was calling in the summer of 1987 to come in for WWE at the time, I was asked, ‘Do you ever work with him?’ I said, ‘Yes. Didn’t have good experience.’”
Elsewhere in the same podcast, Bruce Prichard talked about Vince McMahon’s role on commentary. Fans can read more about it here.
