Cain Velasquez Making Pro Wrestling Debut At Triplemania XXVII

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is the latest MMA fighter to transition into pro wrestling because the UFC star is going to be teaming with Cody and Psycho Clown against Texano Jr., Taurus and a mystery partner this August at AAA Triplemania XXVII.

Velasquez has hinted at transitioning to pro wrestling in the past, having done a little training at the WWE Performance Center earlier this year.

The longtime UFC star holds a 14-3-0 record as a professional MMA fighter and defeated former WWE Universal Champion Brock Lensar at UFC 121 in 2010 to win the gold. Injuries have hampered Velasquez’s run ever since, fighting just eight times in the last eight-plus years. Velasquez last competed in the main event of UFC Fight Night Phoenix, suffering a first round knockout loss to Francis Ngannou.

There has been no comment from Velasquez as to whether or not the transition to pro wrestling will mean the end of his professional MMA career.
